On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, with the presence of the president of the University of Zakho, Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel, Vice President for Students Affairs Dr. Abdul-Wehab Kh. Musa, lecturers, and students, the Department Of Kurdish Language celebrated International Mother Language Day.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the attendees stood a minute of silence in honor of Kurdish martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their country, and then fourth stage students from Kurdish Department started their activities and exhibited an info graph on the history of Kurdish language. After that, many posters and manuscripts were exhibited.

It is worth mentioning that International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and promote multilingualism.
